Ms. Stevens has worked extensively in the central, eastern and western parts of Africa in the areas of capacity building and transitional justice. Prior to joining the RFK Center, she worked as a Consultant for the World Bank Group on a tax reform project for Sierra Leone, West Africa. From 2002 – 2005, she worked as an Associate Trial Counsel for the Special Court for Sierra Leone and from 1999 to 2002, she worked at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda as a Case Manager and later as an Assistant Trial Attorney. At both the Special Court and the Tribunal for Rwanda, she assisted with the prosecution of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Prior to joining the Tribunal for Rwanda, Ms. Stevens worked in Burundi in East Africa from 1997 to 1999 on a democracy and governance project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Ms. Stevens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Kalamazoo College in Michigan and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa in Iowa. She also holds a Masters of Law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. She speaks French and Krio, a local dialect spoken in Sierra Leone. Ms. Stevens is no stranger to Plymouth UCC She is the daughter of Kulah Allen and sister of Mato and Dauod Allen and was baptized at Plymouth by Rev.
