Make my relationships wholesome and meaningful. Even as I age and my body begins to slow, make me wiser and kinder. In my kindness make me unafraid to use the awesome power you have put within the palm of my hand. Change me and I shall love. Change me and I will praise your name. Change me from glory to glory and I will magnify you with my thoughts and actions. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.

Please join Plymouth United Church of Christ on Friday, August 29, 2008 for the world premier of the play, Palmer Park, and a day trip to Stratford, Ontario!
Stratford Shakespeare Festival

The internationally acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, North America’s leading classical theatre, presents a six-month season of various plays in four venues, encompassing the works of Shakespeare and other great classical writers as well as the best in musical theatre and contemporary drama.

This year, PUCC members have the opportunity to see the world première of Palmer Park, a new work by the author of the Tony-nominated play Memory. Palmer Park takes a look at two professional couples- one black, the other white - who become neighbors in Detroit after the race riots of 1967. Together, they and their other friends strive to maintain the racial integration of their community and their children’s school. But skin color, they find, isn’t the only thing that can drive people apart…

PUCC is being offered a 20% group discount on tickets for the play. The total cost of the day trip is only $90.00, which includes a ticket to the play, lunch at the theater and luxury motor coach transportation to and from Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Lord, grant me the vision to set goals for myself. Give me the desire to succeed on all levels of life. Whatever path I take, order my steps that my way will be plain. Whatever direction I choose, be my light when I cannot see, be my ears when I cannot hear, be my brain when I need help thinking, be my heart to show me compassion. Take away my fear of the obstacles that stand in my way. Teach me to reach for the sky - to hope for the best, to reach for the best, to dream for the best, to work for the best. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Renewal in Love

Lord, grant me the honesty to admit the true nature and character of my relationships. Help me to acknowledge when my friendships are wholesome and healthy. In my personal integrity teach me to admit when they are dangerous and unhealthy. When I am frustrated, devastated and sad, help me to turn things around. When love becomes boring and mundane, help me to do my part in making love fresh, exciting and transformed. Where love has been destroyed, show me the path to renewal. Grant me the courage to be creative in love. Give me the willingness to shed those habits and behaviors that restrict love and fill me with a desire to renew love. Grant me the blessing this day of renewal in love. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
