25th Annual Inter-Faith Homeless Rotating Shelter Program
Saturday, February 10 – Saturday, February 17 2018.
Our guests from the Rotation Shelter, sponsored by the Inter-Faith Hospitality Ministry, will arrive Saturday, February 10 and stay through February 18. We urge all members to actively participate in our program this year as in past years.

Rochelle Riley Book launch
Rochelle Riley’s new book, The Burden: African Americans and the Enduring Impact of Slavery launches on February 1, 2018. A launch party will be held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History on February 1, 2018 @ 6:30 p.m.
The book is a collection of essays from a variety of people including actress Aisha Hinds, TV producer and actor Tim Reid and a forward by New York Times writer and MacArthur genius grant-winner Nikole Hannah-Jones.

Request for Mentors – PUCC & Plymouth Educational Center Mentoring Programs
Two new mentoring programs for our local youth. One programs will support young members of our church (6th-12th grades). The other will support students attending Plymouth Educational Center (K-12th grades). Both young men and women will be encouraged to become mentees under these new programs.
We are currently seeking mentors, speakers and supporters for these programs. Mentors must be a Plymouth member, 18 years of age or older and complete a background check.
Expectations for mentors:
Plymouth UCC Program
- Meet with your student 1 or 2 times per month (Saturday mornings or weekday afternoons at the church)
- Encouraged to attend, if possible, quarterly “Life Lessons” sessions with student
Plymouth Educational Center:
- Meet with your student one-on-one in a group setting 1 time per month (day TBD)
- Encourage to attend, if possible, monthly Speaker Series and service learning sessions
Mentors should plan to meet with students from October through June.

Drivers – Transportation Ministry

Plymouth United Church of Christ Travel Ministry
- TRAVEL TO GUATEMALA
The PUCC Travel Ministry has been invited to join Craig Orr on an eight(8)-day mission observation and tourist trip to Guatemala to see the work of Friends of FORMA. Friends of FORMA is a U.S. based nonprofit co-founded by Craig Orr.
The organization provides educational and nutritional assistance to indigenous youth and children in impoverished rural areas in the highlands of Guatemala. There will also be a two-day trip to Antigua.
The trip begins January 17-24, 2018. Cost is $1,550 per person. Includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, hotels, most meals, and guided tours in both the Solola Lake Atitlan region and Antigua. The trip is limited to 12 persons.
This is an unique travel opportunity in which you will experience Mayan culture and the breath-taking sights of the Lake Atitlan region and Antigua.
- TRAVEL TO ISRAEL
The PUCC Travel Ministry is excited to announce its next excursion, a 10-day journey to explore the Christian heritage of Israel. The tour includes visits to St. Peter’s Church, Mount of Beatitudes, Sea of Galilee cruise, Mount Zion, Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and the opportunity to be baptized in the River Jordan by Rev. Hood. The cost is $4, 671.00 and includes:
- 8-night stay in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Nazareth, and Jerusalem
- Round-trip airfare between Detroit and Tel-Aviv
- Breakfast daily
- 6 three-course dinners with beer or wine

PUCC Cub Scout Pack
Join the Pack at PUCC, Pack 600 starting with Cub Scouts. This will be a year-round program for first graders (or boys at least 6 years of age) to fifth graders (or boys at least 10 years of age), uniquely designed to meet the needs of young boys and their parents. The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness.
Service projects, ceremonies, games and other activities guide boys through the core values and give them a sense of personal achievement. Through positive peer group interaction and parental guidance, boys also learn honesty, bravery and respect.
