Duties and Responsibilities for Church Officers
Moderator - Officially calls & presides democratically at all church membership and church council meetings.
Vice Moderator - The vice-moderator shall carry out the duties of the moderator in his/her absence of disability.
Clerk - To maintain an accurate record of the proceedings of church membership and church council meetings.
Assistant Clerk - To perform the duties of the clerk in his/her absence or disability.
Historian - To maintain an up-to-date history of Plymouth UCC (Congregational). Make a summary report of yearly activities at the annual meeting.
Treasurer - Receives & records all monies for deposit and give receipts and deposit funds received in such depository as prescribed by the Board of Trustees.
Assistant Treasurer – To perform the duties of the treasurer in his/her absence of disability and shall serve as member of the Board of Trustees with voice and vote when the treasurer is not present.
Diaconate Board - To counsel & assist the ministers in matters pertaining to church and community spiritual interests.
Board of Christian Education - To plan the development of religious programs for the entire church.
Council Members at Large - To be elected at the annual church meeting for a term of one year. The responsibilities of the Church Council shall be to visualize the entire mission of the church and advise the minister(s) of the general direction of the church’s activities.
Metropolitan Association Delegates - To faithfully represent the church at all officially called meetings of the Detroit Metropolitan Association and the Michigan Conference annual meeting of the United Church of Christ and to make appropriate.
Nominating Committee - Comprised of five members in good standing to be elected at the annual meeting for a term of one year and to accept, consider, investigate, and screen all names submitted for church elective positions.
Trustee Board - To abide by, and be subject to, the regulations prescribed by the laws of the State of Michigan and the church Constitution and By-law; prudently administer the financial affairs of Plymouth UCC.
Property Maintenance Committee - Establishing a list of projects for the, maintenance of the church. Soliciting, receiving, and reviewing bids for projects approved by the Trustee Board. Overseeing the implementation of approved projects. Advising the Trustee Board on the status of church needs. |
