Thank you for visiting
the web site of the Plymouth United Church of Christ
Detroit. Plymouth is a progressive church with a
biblically centered, relevant interpretation of the
teachings of Jesus. The ministry of Plymouth UCC
Detroit is a seven day a week, multi hour program
with a minimum of four bible studies each week-
often expanding to 6 bible studies each week. Most
recently I challenged the entire church to memorize
“The Beatitudes” (Matthew 5 ). Each week from
October – the end of November there were five Bible
Studies with coordinated lessons on each of the
Beatitudes. The sermons on Sundays and Wednesdays
matched the bible study lessons.
Plymouth UCC is active
in trying to build up the community in the spirit of
Jesus Christ. The church is the sponsor of the
Plymouth Educational Center, the first church based
charter school in Michigan. It is also the sponsor
of the Plymouth Non-Profit Housing Corporation which
owns the Nicholas Hood Sr. Medical Center Courts
Apartments.
Plymouth has several
“high intensity, low liability “missions: a computer
mission that provides computers to inner city youth;
a free summer camp for inner city youth; homeless
ministry; free toys for children at Christmas; and
much more.
