The Plymouth Youth Church
The Youth Church operates every
Sunday for both the 8:30 and 11:00 am services. Young people of all
ages are welcome, from the toddler to the teenager. The
superintendent, Catherine Murray, believes wholeheartedly in the
bible verse “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he
is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 And she is a
witness to its truth both with her own children and others that she
has witnessed grow to maturity from the church’s Sunday School
program.
Each level features its own team of instructors. Bible-based
teaching materials are utilized according to age and maturity. Every
Sunday, the young people engage in their lessons and devotional time
is included as well. Toddlers and Elementary age children frequently
demonstrate their learnings through a Make-and-Take project.
Currently, the Youth Church is meeting in the Cyprian Center just
across the parking lot from the church but very soon we will return
to the renovated lower level of the church where we will resume
weekly praise devotionals in the new chapel.

The youngsters also fellowship with their same age
peers. The high school students recently attended a play at the Fox
Theatre and the middle schoolers take monthly after-church
excursions for fun and food. The younger children have spent time
bowling and camping.
The newest feature of the Youth Church has been Youth Sunday. Fifth
Sundays have been the occasion for the youth to conduct the 8:30 and
11:00 am services. From the Call To Worship to the Invitation to
Christian Discipleship, the young people handle every aspect of the
service including the message. These services have been
opportunities for our youngsters to serve but they are also special
spirit-filled times of worship for the entire congregation. “And a
little child shall lead them.” Isaiah 11:7b
Each year during Easter and Christmas the Youth Church presents a
program before the congregation. These programs have included
speaking parts, dance, playing of instruments and singing. Families
and Friends gather each year to experience the young people adding
their special perspective to the celebration of these special
liturgical events. Children of all ages are welcome at Youth Church;
neither the young people nor their parents or guardians have to be
members for the children to participate. Children who are visiting
on a particular Sunday are welcome as well
Have you ever wanted to speak before crowds, see your
name in lights or hear the applause of your listeners? Youth Church
can make your dream come true. Join us this summer as we roll out
exciting programs for the youth. You can speak before crowds of 4th
graders, you will see the Name of Jesus as the Light of the world
and you can hear the voice of God as you give your heart to our most
precious treasures: our young people. Contact Catherine Murray,
superintendent or Rev. Georgia Hill to sign-up.
